"A Wink and a Smile" -- New Christmas Charmed Confection

Hi Everyone!

Hopefully this post finds you well and happy!  Things have settled down in the Charmed Confections' studio and I'm back to blogging.  Nice to come back and look at my site and see how this year has unfolded for me.  Blogging reminds me somewhat of a diary ... (that everyone can read) ... but it also is a wonderful reminder of where I've been and where I am headed.  Looking back at the art created and my progression, I am so very thankful to be able to do what I love -- even if it is only part time due to the day job.  :)

But, before I get ahead of myself, I would like to say, "Thank You" to all of my followers and collectors.  Without you, my art has no wings!  I truly mean this.  There is no greater satisfaction than seeing someone delight in what you create.  I thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for this opportunity to share a little of me with you!

Since I have not blogged in a while, there is so much to catch up on.  I will have to do it in a few postings.  My Halloween shows were wonderful!  Halloween and Vine in Petaluma, CA, once again, was a huge hit!  I just loved seeing my fellow artists and their amazing works!  This year the art was incredible!  Loved seeing some of my collectors again and meeting new ones too!  I have much to share on my Halloween art, but will post about that soon, giving you finished pictures of some of the art you didn't see here.

As for today, I would like to introduce you to "A Wink and a Smile".  This sweet Santa is going to be displayed in a local gallery here in Sacramento, CA.  The gallery is called, The Art of Toys.  You can visit it by going to www.artoftoys.com.  I belong to a local artist doll group called, DollWorks.  We have been invited to show and sell our art at the gallery.  I am really excited, as this will be my first piece ever in a gallery.  Sounds fancy!  Ha! Ha!  In all seriousness, I am thrilled by this opportunity.  Who would have thought my art would take me there?  I still consider myself as learning this art form.  I don't think that will ever go away.

Anyway, I hope you like him!  Santa is 15 1/2" tall - sculpted out of paper clay.

 
I also wanted to mention that I did a really dumb thing lately.  In deleting my spam emails, I happened to delete my entire inbox.  Yup!  Gone!  So, if you sent me an email in the past that I did not respond to, please forgive me.  I am starting from scratch again.  Drop me a line and I will get back to you. Promise!

Tutorial --- A Cookie Inspired Creative Paperclay® Tree / New Art!

Good Morning to You All!

I hope this post finds you well and happy!  Christmas is just around the corner and I am running around trying to get last minute things done.  If you are still looking for that fun project to do with the kiddies, pop on over the the Creative Paperclay® blogsite and look at my next tutorial.  It was inspired by using star cookie cutters in various sizes stacked up to make this sweet Christmas tree.  If you don't want to make a tree and make ornaments, I talk about how to do that too. Either way, they will be darling and so simple to do.

 I also wanted to post a couple of pictures of a sweet snowman I created this month.  I think he turned out great!  First time, I have used a candlestick in my art.  Not too bad for a first.  The candies on this guys tummy were made by using my candy tutorial on this blog.  Click on the tutorial label in the right hand column of this blog for the instructions.

Sneak Peek -- Pfatt Marketplace New Offerings - Available December 10th at 10am!

Hi Everyone!

Boy, it's cold in California where I am!  Even in our little town of Wheatland, we got a light dusting of snow this afternoon.  I have never seen that in my 9 years of living here.  At least it all melted.  Good thing too, because I don't have a clue how to drive in the snow.  Hope you are warm and happy wherever you are.

Wanted to stop by the Charmed blog and give you a sneak peek at my new offerings for Pfatt Marketplace on December 10th.  Hot off the worktable are two sweet snowman ornaments!  I think they turned out pretty cute with their candy striped noses.

Each ornament is 6" tall (10" including the banner) and completely hand sculpted out of paperclay.  Their sweet faces are full of charm and character!  The hats are made out of vintage tart tins that I painted and glass glittered and there is a sweet Christmas bell under each of their collars (hard to see from the photos).  Each snowman was given a pearl paint wash over their icy skin to give them a frosty look.  Really beautiful in person!  They have been highly glittered and look beautiful on the tree!

The Red Snowman is named "Laughing all the Way" and the Blue Snowman is called "Dreaming".

Love this photo of the Blue Snowman.  You can see his silver Christmas bell underneath. 

This little guy is just too giggly! I am waiting for tears to pop out of his eyes - crying in laughter!

Oh ... these ornaments make me happy indeed!

New Tutorial on the Creative Paperclay® Blogsite!

Hi Everyone!

Boy, I have missed you all.  Time sure flies by even if we are not having fun, doesn't it?  Well, I sure hope you are all happy in your corner of the world.   Things have been so busy with me and my family, I hardly have time to finish up my new Charmed Confections I am working on.  I think I have about ten projects going on right now and Thanksgiving is right around the corner.

This Thanksgiving, everyone is coming to my place.  So, I will be busy cleaning and shopping for the big day.  Then I will be cooking, laughing, drinking and eating with my sweet family!  I am so ready for a little fun, but have lots to do beforehand to get ready for the big day.  Even my sweet, little man Jake will be looking good on Thanksgiving since he went to the groomers.  I like to say they did some man-scaping on him.  Hee! Hee! He is all trimmed up and looking handsome.  Now, if I can get my hubby looking that good.  :)

Anyway, I did finish up a new tutorial for the Creative Paperclay® blogsite tonight.  It will be published tomorrow.  Go to www.creativepaperclay.blogspot.com to check it out.  Below is a picture of what I was working on.  They are Gingerbread Boy Tags / Ornies.  I hope all my Prim Girls out there give this a try.  They sure would look darling with their creations.  My friend, Jody Johnson of Sweet Bear Creek Whims was my inspiration for creating these little guys.  She makes wonderful creations!  Go check out her blog at www.sweetbearcreekwhims.blogspot.com

Here I have used them as ornies on my homemade jelly.  Too cute!  These would look great as ornaments, Christmas present tags (just write on the back of them). put them on garland / in wreaths or use them in your holiday potpourri as bowl fillers.

Mr. Snow -n- Flake are outta here!
