New Tutorial on the Creative Paperclay® Blogsite!

Wanted to let you know that I have posted my next tutorial on the Creative Paperclay® Blogsite.  If you are looking for a cute party favor that is inexpensive and quick to do, take a look.  I made up some cute party moustaches!   Michaels has these in all different wooden shapes, including hats and glasses. 



Just spruce them up with paperclay, paint and embellish!  Add a cute tag on the stick to personalize your party!  The plain wooden moustaches were only .99 cents.  You can't beat that!

Pfatt Marketplace May Offering

Hi Everyone!

Hope all is well and happy in your world.  Boy, last month was so incredibly busy for me that the month of May just took me by surprise.  I have been so busy designing new characters for Halloween and gearing up to have inventory, that I almost forgot about my deadline for new artwork on Pfatt Marketplace, May 10th.

Well, I didn't have time to sculpt something from paper clay, but I was able to make some of my favorite faerie paperweights.  These are so perfect for gift giving!  I just love them!  Each paperweight is approximately 3-1/4" wide by 1-3/4" tall.  They are nice and heavy too!  The beautiful, clear glass domes are so reflective in the sunlight.  Pictures never do them justice, but past customers love them when they see them in person and always come back for a few more.  I have priced them very affordable.

Each paperweight is rimmed with pretty glass beads, bubble beads, charms, polymer clay flowers and then highly glittered.  No need to worry about beads falling off.  The adhesive I use holds the beads to the glass in a rock hard finish.  In addition, the bottoms of each paperweight have been lined with cork padding so they will not scratch your tabletops.

The glass domes are so pretty.  They remind me of big drops of rain water.

New Offering for Pfatt Marketplace - Tomorrow, April 10th!

Hi Friends out there in Bloglandia!

I wanted to blog a little today to post pictures of my newest piece that will be available exclusively on Pfatt Marketplace tomorrow.  Last month, I got an email asking me to be the Artist of the Month for Pfatt.  What is that?  Well if you go to www.pfattmarketplace.com tomorrow, (the site posts new items on the 10th of each month), they have a main page listed there at the top of the artist's list.  Each month a new artist is picked to post his/her profile on the main page and tell us about how they got starting in their craft.  Well, this month, it's my turn.  It is such an honor to be picked among all the talent on the site .... and a little scary too!  But, tomorrow my main page will go up and you can read all about me.  LOL!  I hope it sounds ok.

As well as writing up a main page article on yourself, you have to make an exclusive piece of art for that month.  Now, anyone that knows me, knows I would make Halloween all year long.  It's April -- who is going to want a Halloween piece?  So I though hard about something I have always wanted to try to make; something that I could possibly incorporate into Halloween when it rolls around.  I thought of wings!  So, I have created my first angel - ever!  She sits in a wooden box and the letters
L-O-V-E are represented on each side of the box.    Below are a few pictures of her.

What I am most proud about are the wings.  They are sculpted out of paper clay, over an inner armature- one feather at a time.  Very time consuming, but so worth the look!

The angel's body is also embossed with swirls and hearts.

The wings are sculpted on both sides!  So pretty all the way around!

Her arms and hands are sculpted separately and added after the embossing was completed on her body.

 Love Angel's hands are over her heart in a gesture of love.

This is a picture of the tops of her wings.  They have been lightly glittered, 

which is hard to see in the photo, but beautiful in person.
I wanted them to have an ethereal look. 

 Regardless if you can see the glitter, the detail is stunning.
I am very pleased with the outcome.

Creating these wings was such an artistic challenge for me and I have learned so many do's and don't along the way.  I can't wait to incorporate these types of wings into my Halloween art.  Stay tuned for winged skeletons, gargoyles, cemetery angels and vampire bats!  That is when the fun will begin!

Hi Everyone in Blogland! 

Well, it has been a while since I have posted something on my blog, and I am quite ashamed.  It is a wonder I even have followers at all.  So, for all you out there looking at my humble blog, I thank you for putting up with me.  I do have some fun things in the works.  I will be putting on a tutorial on how to make miniature candy out of polymer clay.  Should be fun and I hope you will participate with me.  If you have any dollies that need a little sweet to hold, you will want to stay tuned.  I will be working on that next week.  

This week, I would like to introduce you to my newest piece debuting on Pfatt Marketplace on March 10th at 10am Pacific Time.  It is called the "Tea Time March Hare".  I absolutely love anything Alice in Wonderland and thought I would do a whimsical piece using some sweet teacups I was given by a family friend.  

Hope you like her.  She was incredibly fun to make and I have fallen in love with her, so am sure I will have to make more based on this theme.

The above picture is of the accessories I have to go on the teacups.  I even made sugar cubes and a Charmed Confections English Tea (tea bag) to go with the set.  Don't use it!  I am quite sure it would taste awful ... or maybe it would make you grow smaller.   :)   

Wouldn't the teacup saucers look darling filled with jelly beans for an Easter centerpiece?  That's what I would do and then the rest of the time, I would use the accessories.

Sweet Serendipity - Pfatt Marketplace Sneak Peek!

Hi Everyone and Happy New Year to You!

I hope you have recovered after the holidays and are in good health.  Between you and me, I am so glad that the holidays have come and past.  I am always amazed at how my "to do" list was actually accomplished.  Does the list get longer each year, or is it just me?

Regardless, I was able to spend some time in the studio crafting away the hours.  Such bliss for me as I could stay there forever and never return to my day job. 

Below is a picture of my first offering of 2013!  Sweet Serendipity Springtime Faerie.  She will be making her official appearance on Pfatt Marketplace on January 10th at 10am pacific time.  Anyone who knows me, knows I LOVE Faeries!!  So, I thought I would kick off the year with one!

I must say, she looks how I must have been feeling after the holidays ... peaceful and satisfied - very content with herself!  Serendipity is approximately 12" tall and 6" across from wing tip to wing tip.  For more information on her please visit Pfatt Marketplace on the 10th at 10am!  She will be available for sale at that time.

I hope you like her.  She was sculpted out of a lump of paperclay.  I so want her eyelashes - should have asked Santa for those instead of candles!!   Ahh ... but I love candles too!  You can never have enough!
